Memories and learning from them

A funny thing happened yesterday and it brough back alot of memories for me as a kid. So we have some cute neighbor kids that think that our house is the new place to play(I don't know why we have no toys or anything)well the youngest who is six came over last night just as Matt and I were leaving to go running and asked if he could play we told him we were leaving but when we got back he could come over. He seemed a little bummed but Matt and I left and didn't think a thing of it. On our way back we ran into his sister and she thanked us for the chocolate chips we didn't think much of it til we got home and realized that neither one of us had given him chocolate chips. So after alot of discussion about what we should do we went back over and asked the sister about the chocolate chips like who had them, when did we give them to them, ect. Through this process we found that the little brother had gone into our freezer that was in the garage after we left and got himself a bag of chocolate chips! The sister went to tell the mom and soon after the littlest boy was on our porch with an apology but no chocolate chips! We said that we forgave him and that he needed to not do it again or he couldn't come play. I then told him a story about myself.
When I was in kindergarten a girl brought smarties for the whole class but i wanted more than just one so on break I got into her backpack and took some more smarties and also a small bottle of perfume that she had. I got home and spread my smarties out on my bed and sprayed the perfume. My mom then came in and asked where I had gotten the candy and perfume I, of coarse lied, to not get in trouble. When the truth finally came out my mom loaded me in the car and took me to the girls house I remember crying all the way and throwing a tantrum I'm sure. We pulled in the driveway I had to walk to the door by myself and explain to ther girl and her mom what I had done and give all of it back. I still remember being so embarrased. I concluded my story by saying and thats why we don't take other people's things. Then we went to depart ways the dad said he was a little disappointed that we were so easy on him. I was a little thrown off by this because he isn't my child and Matt and I didn't feel like it was our place to discipline him. Were we wrong? What would you have done? But either way it was a good drive down memory lane to remind me that we ware all human and we have to learn sometime. Thanks mom and dad from making me fix my mistakes so they never happened again.

New Job

Well I have been waiting til I let the correct people know before I make the announcement that I got a new job! Now this may not sound to exciting to most of you but the thought of not having to get up at 3AM anymore thrills me more than most things in this life. So what is this new job you ask? Well it is a manager position at a nursing home/rehabilitation center near our house and even closer to where the new house will be. I start Sept 22, my official title is the manager of the long term wing. I will be responsible for many things that I am unsure of at this point. I will now be working Mon-Fri for the most part, no holidays, weekend, I work "normal" human hours 9-3 at least and more to get my work done. Best of all it is salaried and I got a large raise. This will put kids on the back burner for yet another while due to the fact that they ask for a two year commitment but hey that two years give us a chance to travel, pay off land, and hopefully build the dream house before the expensive kids arrive. Matt and I are thrilled about the thought of having normal sleep schedules and not being tired and grumpy all of the time. I know this isn't the most exciting news of all but it's life.

Moments where patience is a virtue

Well so Thursday after working 13 hours I got to my car took a minute to relax and decided I needed to go to the Smith's case lot sale while I had the energy. I backed out of the stale and headed for the exit as I was driving down the path a heard a low crunch and turned around to see a young girl back into my new car! Needless to say I was very unhappy, I got out just as she did and then what she said surprised me, "Was that my bad?" I held my composure and told her yes that I had the right of way and then headed to see the damage on the side of the car. The large dent started half way down my passenger side door to the wheel well on the back of the car. I of coarse called the cops and security at the hospital who responded promptly probably the highlight of the securities day and the low of the police officers. I then found out the girl was 18 and had only been driving 1 year. Then a witness to the accident confirmed that she had hit the gas just in time to crunch my passenger side. She still thought it was my fault go figure. So now the insurance company will figure it out but patience is definitely a virtue and one that I lack most of the time.

Las Vegas and the fam

So over Labor Day Matt and I were able to fly down and spend some time with my family which was much needed we haven't been to vegas since march because of work and school schedules so needless to say I was super excited. We shopped, boated, bbq'd, and just relaxed. My parents have a beautiful home with an awesome pool that we put to good use. Kim and Ez were nice enough to make time in their busy scheduales to come hang out with us although I got no pics sorry. We missed nic and her honey but we will see you soon. One day we went boating to Lake Mead we had tons of fun we have missed that alot. Matt, Nate and Madi had a competition to see who could stand on the tube the longest it was entertaining to say the least. Thanks mom and dad for all of you hospitality while we were there and your love always. Although vegas may never feel like home I have found that no matter where what the location that home is where all the people you love are. We were so sad to leave and can't wait to go back.
